The Great Twin Cities Poetry Read (GTCPR)
The annual Great Twin Cities Poetry Read (GTCPR) is a live reading event featuring many of the finest poets from the Twin Cities, greater Minnesota, and beyond. Held on the last weekend of April (that'd be Nat'l Poetry Month), the GTCPR features 25 to 30 poets reading a single poem each. The poems read at the GTCPR are anthologized—along with essays, reviews, interviews, comics, and other prose about poetry by poets who read and have read at the GTCPR—in the Poetry City, USA series.
& Road Show
The Road Show takes handfuls of poets who have read at one of the GTCPRs to college campuses, community centers, literary organizations, living rooms, bookstores, wherevs. Poets considered "local poets" to the ad hoc poetry guild at Road Show venues gather with traveling poets (four or five total) to read not only their own poems but also (in theory) other work they admire from the Poetry City, USA anthology series.
Road Show: The Maeve's Sessions
The GREAT TWIN CITIES POETRY ROAD SHOW: THE MAEVE'S SESSIONS is a bi-monthly reading series at Maeve's Cafe along NE Mpls's famous POETRY ROW. After a mingling-intermission on the heels of the final invited-poet's reading, the evening ends with a controlled open-mic reading.
Poet's who read at THE MAEVE'S SESSIONS donate a copy of a book they have had published, if indeed they have one, and these copies are collected on Maeve's Poetry Shelf and are available for patrons to enjoy with their foodie-food, coffee, beer, or wine. As well, MAEVE'S SESSIONS poets sign a copy (with their photo on it) of one of the poems read at the reading—poems which are framed and hung on Maeve's POET'S WALL/HALL OF FAME.
